For the second year in a row, the Hamilton Celtics Basketball Club is participating the in The Holiday Shoebox Project for Women, which is an organization that collects gifts and items that are given to women who are impacted by homelessness. Offering a small gift is often a powerful reminder that these women are cared for and recognized within society during difficult times.
Donations will be collected starting Saturday, November 12th at Bishop Ryan High School during our House League Program from 8:30am – 12:30pm. We will continue to collect donations during this time until Saturday, December 10th.
We are looking for:
Gift cards (we recommend $10+ to a grocery or drug store)
Shampoo and Conditioner (consider all hair types and textures)
Tooth Brushes & Toothpaste
Shoe Boxes or Large Christmas gift Boxes (Approx. 14" x 8" x 5")
Some luxuries to make a woman feel special
Cosmetics (lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, nail polish, etc)
A cozy accessory (hand warmers, hats, mitts, scarves)
Skin care (sunscreen, face cream, body/hand lotion, cleanser, etc)
Self-care (face mask, journal, eye mask, lip balm, etc)
Please DO NOT Include:
Sized Clothing (ie. S/M/L)
Products containing alcohol (ie. Mouthwash and sanitizer)
Foundations, concealers, or any product for a specific skin tone
Tampons or sanitary napkins
Razors, nail kits or anything that could cause harm
Perfume and heavily fragranced products
We will be compiling the shoeboxes once we have finished receiving donations. The last time we participated in this project, we were able to fill 75 boxes. Our goal for this year is to surpass that number! There will be a prize for the team with the most donations.
